Sad to see California in such disarray. Grew in Califonia, spending 10 years in the Bay Area and 8 in San Diego. I left California in 1999 for college in Texas and never looked back. Simple reality is that the cost of living is insane due to a perfect storm of different variables.

Wrong cintelect. You aren't going to be paying higher taxes. Remember that the Obama plan calls for lowering the taxes of 95% of Americans while raising the taxes of the upper 5%.

You're so right! I should go to work every day and pay the government my earnings in taxes so that some slob can eat fast food 5 times a week and smoke 7 packs of cigarettes a day all so that his very expensive health problems can be paid by the rest of us?

The problem is that the consumer (in this case the government) has to get something back of value, and employment for the sake of employement, (unfortunately) isn't something of value.
